Resignation is daily reality in some parts of the world.
Poverty and a lack of food, water, basic medical care and education mean that people have to accept extreme situations, such as high infant mortality, malnutrition or a lack of access to education as being the norm.

One small practical gesture is enough to get someone back on their feet – this is the mission of our small organisation: we have set ourselves the goal of restoring dignity to those who cannot afford to hope for the future because they are too busy trying to survive another day.

We focus mainly on women and children because they are the most badly affected in difficult situations, but they also know how to be the strongest: if they are doing well, the whole community around them will flourish and will be able to react to the conditions in which it exists.

THE HEART OF FONTE DI SPERANZA

Fonte di Speranza was founded in 2004 at the behest of Diego Sportiello and it has not looked back since. Thanks to our President, we have set up an important network of collaborations with various national and international non-profit organisations over the years.

We choose to work with these associations because we want to go where the big organisations cannot provide their help, and this is only possible by combining forces.

ASSOCIATIONS

A world is possible where no one is denied the right to hope; a world where the weakest individuals and communities hold the keys to accessing a better future. With more than ten years of experience in some of the world’s most difficult environments, we at Fonte di Speranza have developed an approach that is based on precise values

COLLABORATION

Our role is to listen to local communities in order to provide them with the assistance they need in order to react and reclaim their future: we bring just the right amount of experience and combine it with their own in the most beneficial way. We make contacts and build relationships by putting those who benefit from action at the centre, therefore making them the agents of change. We believe in involving communities and making them responsible for the success of our programmes, none of which are imposed or top-down.

EQUALITY

We are a secular, non-partisan organisation and for us, development means generating equal opportunities across the board, regardless of race, sex, age or religion. We focus mainly on women and children because they are the most badly affected in difficult situations, but they also know how to be the strongest: if they are doing well, the whole community around them will flourish and will be able to react to the conditions in which it exists.

CULTURAL RESPECT

A special dialogue is established between us and the people who benefit from our support: they learn from us and we learn from them. This is possible because we respect their cultures and traditions, which we try to preserve and promote. This principle is also applied where intervention is indirect: we only support those who give the same importance to this point as we do.

Most importantly, we are able to count on a trusted network of supporters: our association only exists (and will continue to exist) thanks to these generous people who share our values.
